🎨 Impressions
I really enjoyed this book. It's been on my list of books to read for the past year, and I'm glad I gave it a go. This book is different from the Power of Habit, because the information is more practical, and it gives you actionable steps to change your life. I love how the author broke up the book into sections on forming a good habit and how to break away from the bad habits in your life. The good habits can be characterized in these four simple words, Obvious, Attractive, Easy and Satisfying. The bad habits are summed into these four words, Invisible, Unattractive, Hard and Unsatisfying. The book also talked about the importance of how habit building is showing up each day to do the activity, no matter how unmotivated or tired you are. If you can continue to show up when the work isn't as exciting or you're not as motivated that's when you'll see the biggest change. Showing up on the days when it's tough leads to bigger and better results than showing up when you're feeling good and motivated.
How I Discovered It

☘️ How the Book Changed Me
💡 How my life / behaviour / thoughts / ideas have changed as a result of reading the book.
The book changed the way I viewed habits and how they can be formed. In the past, I knew about the Habit wheel, but I lacked the actionable steps needed to form better habits. I know that if you continue to show and have a clear way to track your progress or habits, those are the things that will continue to keep you motivated and gearing for more. I also know the importance of simply showing up each day, no matter how tired or unmotivated you are to achieve your goals. If you continue to show up, you will eventually see results, but you must continue to perform to see them.
Also, I know the importance of having an accountability partner or an outside influence to force you to continue on your habits or work. Using a service like Beeminder or sending money to a friend if you fail to perform a certain habit or slip will keep you motivated to show up and work.
The idea of habit stacking by piling on a new habit with existing ones allows you to easily set new cues to work on these new habits.
